Our paper, ‘Levelling Up: Can LGPS capital be a force for good in the UK?’, outlines the potential role the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) could play in levelling up in the United Kingdom. It also considers levelling up as a concept, rather than a political term, and explores practical approaches for LGPS investors to contribute towards levelling up. The paper looks at social impact infrastructure as a compelling opportunity for LGPS investors to use their capital as a ‘force for good’, without compromising on their fiduciary duty to members.
The Pensions for Purpose Content Awards shortlist requirements are: originality, educational insight, presentation and relevance for pension funds, and for the impact categories, evidence of positive and intentional impact. The final winners will be announced at the Annual Pensions for Purpose Stakeholder & Awards Event in London on 21 November 2023.
