AlphaReal’s Social Impact Fund receives Sustainability Impact label

Financial Conduct Authority approves AlphaReal social infrastructure fund under new anti-greenwashing rules.

AlphaReal, the specialist manager of secure income real assets, has relaunched its Social Impact Fund under the FCA’s Sustainability Impact label.

The fund, which has been investing across three core sectors – health, housing and education – for eight years, complies with the FCA’s Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) which are designed to protect investors from greenwashing.

The Sustainability Impact label certifies that AlphaReal’s Social Impact Fund makes a genuine positive impact on society and/or the environment.

A 2025 study (1) of UK pension schemes commissioned by AlphaReal, reveals the importance of trusted labelling regimes for sustainability funds.

Almost nine out of ten (88%) UK pension funds say the FCA’s introduction of fund labels will help when considering suitable funds for impact investing.

Further, 86% of UK pension funds surveyed say they would be more likely to allocate to a fund with a SDR Sustainability Impact label.

86% of survey respondents also feel that the label will help to hold investment managers accountable for delivering social impact and risk adjusted returns.

James Murray, Head of Social Infrastructure at AlphaReal, said: “It is critical that investors avoid the perils of investing in funds where there is a risk of greenwashing. The Sustainability Impact label sets a high bar for us as investors and ensures that our fund’s focus is on delivering positive, measurable social impact alongside financial returns to our investors.  We believe this label will give investors’ increased confidence that their allocations are achieving this.

Boris Mikhailov, Head of Client Solutions at AlphaReal said: “Investing across a diverse range of social infrastructure projects within the health, housing and education sectors, can help investors achieve greater social impact, while also improving risk adjusted return potential and ensuring capital can be deployed efficiently.”
